Easy Steps to Install Windows 11 with Rufus

If you have downloaded the Windows 11 ISO file and are ready to install it on your computer, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do so using Rufus, a popular tool for creating bootable USB drives.

Step 1: Prepare Your Computer

Before installing Windows 11, ensure your computer meets the minimum system requirements. Make sure your computer is:

  • A 64-bit device

  • 4GB of RAM or more

  • A 64-bit CPU (Intel Core i5 or equivalent)

  • A dedicated GPU with at least 2GB of VRAM

Step 2: Download Rufus

Download Rufus from the official website and install it on your computer. Ensure you have the latest version installed.

Step 3: Create a Bootable USB Drive

  • Open Rufus and select the Windows 11 ISO file as the source.

  • Set the boot order to priority 1 (USB) and set the disk order to the primary hard drive.

  • Choose the USB drive as the destination.

  • Select the partition scheme: Primary, Extended or MBR (Master Boot Record).

  • Click “Create” to start creating the bootable USB drive.

Step 4: Insert the USB Drive and Boot Up Your Computer

  • Insert the Rufus-created USB drive into your computer’s USB port.

  • Restart your computer immediately after inserting the USB drive.

The installation process will begin, and you’ll see a progress bar on your screen as it loads Windows 11.

Step 5: Follow on-screen Instructions

Once the installation is complete, follow the on-screen instructions to:

  • Set up your username and password.

  • Select your language and location.

  • Choose whether to install additional updates or keep the current ones.

  • Accept the terms of use and agree to the license agreement.

Step 6: Boot into Windows 11

After completing all steps, your computer should boot into Windows 11. You’ll be greeted by the desktop with a blue screen of death (BSOD) error message. This is normal. The installation process has successfully completed!

With Rufus, you’ve successfully installed Windows 11 on your computer using a USB drive. Be sure to test it thoroughly before moving forward with any other operations.
